  PRODUCING FORMATION GIS DATA

The Oil and Gas Producing Formation Polygons are based on aggregated Pool polygons (AAPG Formation Code). GIS data includes more than 155 data attributes. The Producing Formation GIS data layers consists of many features including:

  • All major Oil & Gas Producing Formations in the United States, currently more than 1,900
  • Data layers are grouped on the 10 offered regions
  • Grouped regional data includes three types of polygons:
    • One Producing Formation polygon which includes all of the formation
    • A set of fully attributed Pool polygons which include all pools for detailed analysis
    • A set of dissolved Pool polygons for quick analysis
  • 155+ data attributes that are heavily attributed with production data
  • Pool names and layers are normalized to USGS and State databases
  • AAPG formation codes are assigned to Pools
  • Geologic Age, Primary and Secondary Rock Type data are assigned to Pools
  • Hyperlinks to USGS, State, and other websites used for Producing Formation research are included with polygons
  • Detailed data dictionary
